Good Monday Morning…
Despite a hurting back, I am still on a spiritual high from the Design4Living Conference this past weekend.
God changes lives.
I was excited to share with the women about how God has been changing mine over the years through “soaking” or “sitting” in the truth of His word, one section at a time. Often sitting in a portion for months, God begins stirring my heart and teaching me things I would have never seen had I quickly hopped through it. So today, I want to start sharing with you what God has been showing me, through camping out in Psalm 23 for a few months. Let’s start with that familiar 6 verse Psalm:
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You annoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
In these 6 verses I see something that is very encouraging. The Lord is always involved, always working in my life.
- He makes me…
- He leads me…
- He restores me…
- He guides me…
- He is with me…
- He anoints me…
- He fills my cup…
- He chases after me with his love
But, above and beyond all of that is what is stated in the beginning:
The LORD is my shepherd.
Think of that…the Lord IS…
who is He?
Creator, Deliverer, All Powerful, All Knowing, The first and the last, the beginning and the end, Healer, Restorer, Comforter, Protector, Provider…
We can go on and on. And, if and when we focus on WHO the Lord IS, we begin to be changed. Why? Because the truth of God’s involvement in our personal lives brings courage, hope and peace. It changes us.
The Lord is speaking sooo much change into me through these 6 verses. I will continue sharing with you, but for today….just think of that first verse:
The LORD is my shepherd
The Lord… Is Jesus Christ the Lord of your life? The conductor? The ruler? The authority?
The Lord IS….who is He? Do you believe it? Ask Him to help any area of unbelief.
The Lord IS my….this is personal. He isn’t just the God over the whole world, but he loves you individually and is YOURS. He is YOUR shepherd!
The Lord is my shepherd…the shepherd watches after the sheep, caring for them, protecting them, doing always what is best for them. That is who God is for us through Jesus Christ.
Today thank God for who He is. In the middle of any personal trouble or stress, stop and thank God that He is powerful, and He is your shepherd. Think of the tender care that is leading and guiding you, even though you usually can not see or feel it. This is faith. Believing without seeing, trusting without feeling.
Today I celebrate…The Lord IS!!!!!
Celebrate with me!
being changed,
Debbie
