Several years ago, a dear friend was diagnosed with terminal Melanoma at the beginning of the holiday season. God gave her a message and firm resolve, "Don't Miss the Sparkle!" She knew it was her last December and she didn't want to waste it. She wanted to find joy in everything and find ways to express love to others. Her last December changed all of us who knew her. Friends adapted her motto applying it to the hard places of real life.

I need that today. Maybe you do too. If this was your last Christmas how would you want to live it?

She entered Heaven in January many years ago and is still remembered for how she lived her last days. Sherri Short your choice to find joy changed those who knew you. Thank you for a choice that changed my heart too.🎄

Don't Miss the Sparkle! Look for any good, any glimmer of light, any reason for joy. Live this December like it was your last.

Lord,
Thank you for caring about human suffering and our need for rescue from the pain and problems in this life. December doesn't make it all go away but often amplifies the pain. Be with those hurting, grieving or experiencing loss, transition or unwanted change. Comfort and provide for those who are mourning admist the merry of Christmas.

God knows the plans he has for us. Those plans are good because He is good. Often we go through awful terrain to get to where he is taking us, but He is leading us...always.

Yesterday I celebrated my 68th birthday. Being I was given 3-5 yrs to live with liver disease years ago and had breast cancer 10 years ago and acute respiratory failure a few months ago.... I am happy to be here.

I have aches, pains, wrinkles and sags...but I'm here and I get to love my family and those God gifts me with. I'm here. I used to want life to hurry up...busy, achieving, moving....but now I'm just happy to BE. It's a relief to cease striving, competing, comparing and all the girl stuff that follows us into our adult girl lives.

I never could have dreamed the life I've had. The hard that broke me, the relationships that God used to heal me, the ministry that God made part of my story. The grace to keep moving forward even to the heat of Arizona.

Yesterday my first call was my sister- the one and only sibling who was my rock growing up. Texts from kids and nieces came through the day. I received cards and flowers from California friends, was taken to lunch by my new dear Arizona friend, had FaceTime calls with all the out of state kids, dinner with my sweet man, my birthday sister (granddaughter) and Az kids. I went to bed reflective and full. How did I get this old, I wonder.... then the answer comes quick.... Grace, it's all the grace of God. Now today I start another year of the journey. My prayer is to finish strong.

Jesus is the reason my life is different than it could have been. He lifted me from the pit of self-doubt, discouragement and depression. He has taken my hand and led me these 68 years. He can do the same for you. DM me if you want to know more about God's love for the broken.
