Today’s Theme: Asking and Not Receiving
Today’s Dare: Remember God Gives Good Gifts to His children.
This is one of my favorite days on The Faith Dare. Why? Because, this has been a huge lesson and giant leap of growth for me: to believe that God is love and that He ALWAYS acts out of love. Remember, Faith is : believing He exists, and that He cares enough to respond! ( Hebrews 12)
“Call to me and I will answer” Jer. 33:3
“Which of you when his son asks for bread will give him a stone?” Matt 7
So tying together truth, it looks like this:
- God is Love, and He operates out of that Love towards me.
- When I ask, He hears
- When I have problems or needs, He cares.
- When I pray, He answers
- When I pray, He cares for me enough to respond in His time, with the Good Gift
- Out of love, My Father gives me what I need. Period.
This entry had much to do with a prayer I had been praying for my son, Cameron, who at 16 believed God called him into music, and secular music, to be a influence in the pop culture. At first, I thought that was silly, then I realized he was serious. He worked hard, I prayed for open doors. God kept opening doors along the way, it was amazing, but then things slowed to almost a stop. Discouragement set in. A momma’s heart hurt for her son. I kept praying. I kept questioning God, and God told me, I give good gifts, not a snake! God had to prepare my son mentally, and spiritually for it to be a good gift. H e loved my son more than me.
Funny timing. Just yesterday a press release came out about my son’s band Jaymes Reunion…as you read it, you will see the timing of bread and good gift.
What is your need? How can you believe for bread in the waiting? What is God daring you to believe today?
Here is the press release. Am I bragging with this article? Nope! I am rejoicing in the God who answers prayers, opens doors, and desires to give the answer in His time, so it will be good. God is good. Ask him for every thing you have need of and thank Him for the timing. Enjoy seeing in print, the answer to a momma’s prayers to pave the way and open doors, if this music industry thing is God’s will.

Each of us understand the frustration of praying, seeing a door open and then shut thinking the open door looked so good! Why was it shut? Now understanding that those doors could not be safely opened at this TIME! He will not give a snake or a stone. We can choose to force our way through, taking a chance, doing it our way. But we are on our own for as you said He cannot work in any way except that which expresses who He is and is in line with His character. I know how proud you are as you watch your son be steadfast in the walk God has placed before him. He is called through his music to be a light for God in this dark world. Praising God and praying for him knowing he will suceed where God has intended him to as His faithful.

I must remember that it’s all in God’s timing, not mine. That is so very difficult for me. I often think that maybe I’m knocking at the wrong door or asking for the wrong thing. For the past 7 months, I felt as if the rug has been pulled out from under me, that the door I was knocking on has been closed so tightly and locked without a key in sight. It hasn’t been until recently that I am attempting to knock again on that same door, not pounding like I use to, but gently knocking. I’m trusting God with my whole situation now and learning to obey Him with a cheerful heart. Many thanks to you and your example of waiting upon the Lord, time and time again. Thank You!

I love the thought about turning our thinking around about time tables, learning to trust His timing. We need to think outside our box, which doesn’t include other or better options. These boxes and self-focused and can’t possibly be good. I want THE best, not the best my mind can think of.
The truth is He wants to lavish good gifts on me. He can’t give bad gifts. He always hears me. He will answer me. He promises all of that.
God is asking me to believe, without a doubt, that my prayers are heard, His gifts will come, they will be good! No matter what I feel, see or hear, determine to live outside my box and believe.
My challenge is to let go of the answer I want, think I need, and to let go of my timing, trusting that His timing is better, and knowing, at the perfect time, I will not only get a good gift, but a great one! I will be at peace, which is a great gift, and I will get a gift that has God’s loved lavished all over it!
