Today’s Dare: Live Like You Belong to God
Sounds simple enough, right? Not so fast, because if we all lived like we belonged to God, we would all live very differently. If I believed I was His ambassador, I would not get so tangled up in the things of this world, or the things of my own hurts and fears. If I believed my body was His temple, I would take care of it differently…and yes, I would remain at a healthy BMI weight.
Truth is, it’s much easier to think I am just “me”, belonging to my ancestry, living the best I can in this life I have been plopped into. But, when living as “just me” I live a limited and yes, restricted life. A life restricted by my ability, my feelings and my whims. Restricted because God always had more for me. When living as just ‘me”, I also can easily slip into selfishness. I do what I want, when I want, because I can. But, that ‘s the problem, because when He called me to be His, He called me to a new life.
Last night I stopped by the drop off for this week’s Haiti mission group. I marveled at the amount of young people going into a hotbed of turmoil, to serve others. They are going as ambassadors. They are going as servants. And, whether they realize it or not, they are going as HIS.
But what about us today, here in the states? Many are celebrating the 4th today, going to relatives and friends homes, or having people into theirs. Are we believing that we are at a social gathering as His? Are we looking for an opportunity to be Christ to another? It can be a kind word and attitude. It can be a listening ear. It can be a presence of peace. It can be turning a negative into positive.
I enjoyed the start of today’s dare, forgetting I had penned words about my oldest son. A boy who still loves Jesus, now a man, and getting married in 19 days! That little boy of many years ago asked Jesus to be His Savior and though none of us could see it at the time, a fireworks of sorts happened in his little boy frame. The Spirit of God came to make residence in Him. Sure, for many years he never realized the significance of that Holy Presence, but it has been there and still is.
What about you?
I have my index cards with today’s affirming truths. I am armed, focused and going to Dare to Live This One Day, As I BELONG to something and someone greater than myself!
Living Up! Happy Fourth! Jesus is our True Independence from Self!

We can only imagine what influence we can have on the other people we encounter in an average day; I ask God to help me show someone on the airplane about His love and truth!

What a perfect day to remember when we first asked Jesus into our hearts – it was fireworks in my life. It was those three little words “Come to Me…” from Matt11:28 that breathed life into my heart and I’ve not been the same person since. I love your Faith Dare today to live like I belong to God. Wearing my HIS bracelet today will serve as a reminder that I am HIS. Happy 4th!!

It was very encouraging for me today to focus on the truth that God is working in me and desires to work through me.

When we are young, we want to belong to anything and everything so that we feel valued. As women, society tells us that we belong to ourselves. We make all right choices about our selves, our bodies, our careers. Yet if we choose motherhood as our career, we have sold out ourselves and our potential! when I got married, and I “belonged” to my husband, but he didn’t “own” me. I was just a permanent couple but an individual and my husband wasn’t going to change who I was. But I felt valuable and valued when he introduced me to his friends or co-workers. But I wasn’t “owned” by him. That would mean my freedom would be gone. When you believe in Jesus, we are owned by Him. True freedom comes when you are owned by Him. There is safety and security and protection in being owned by Him that the world can never offer. He loves us just as we are. We don’t need to be anything fake or fancy. We just need to be His, owned by Him. Today I am going to put on my “His” bracelet, and rest in the truth that I belong to the Creator of the Universe! I will proudly beling to Him without apologies. I am going to let those who don’t belong to Him wish that they could, and show them the way. I am going to live like Jesus is real, because He is. I am going to live like I belong to God because I do!
