Today’s Theme: Having all we need
Today’s Dare: Dare to Choose Contentment in Your Relationships
“Your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” Matthew 6:32
I find it comforting to know that my heavenly Father KNOWS my needs. I often forget that He knows, but He does know. When I remind myself, sit with truth, profess truth with my mouth, pray the truth in my prayers…the recognition of truth almost overwhelms me with joy, peace and contentment! Wow!
So, why do I forget so easily? I get busy, like you do.
I race around from here to there, have a zillion and one things on my mind, and forget. Simply forget.
So when a need arises, I scramble as if everything is all up to me. When the truth is, I would do better to do my part and trust God fully with the outcome, His part.
I like something I heard once:
Pray towards Heaven and Row towards shore!
Contentment is a by product of focus. I know, I know…I am hitting everyone over the head with the focus stick, but I have hit myself with it first….It’s true. In the dare we see a the order of scripture in Philippians, beginning with
- Don’t Worry
- Instead Pray
- Dwell on Good
- Receive Peace
- Experience Contentment
- Live with Strength from Christ
So the Secret Paul was speaking of has much to do with what came before it….contentment comes when we are upward focused, not worrying, praying instead, dwelling on good….or at the very least putting the bad, negative and ugly aside. Then we have peace. Then we are content, because we are focused on Jesus and our hearts are singled out for Him. THEN we have strength.
Think about it, when you do not have strength…is it because something in this progression of things is missing? For me it is! When I get out of focus, I am sapped of strength, can easily get negative, etc…
Remember today…..Our Father….who is in Heaven, and lives in us, knows all that we need. He will supply all that we need. Rejoice Today!
Wow, we have almost made it to the end of the dares.
I am doing it again beginning Aug. 1st! I need this girlfriends! Tell any friend you know in another church, another area, about The Faith Dare. Wouldn’t it be great is there was a rising up of Faith and upward focus within women across America. Wild, baby Wild! 🙂
living up and loving the journey!

He knows what I need. So good.
I was thinking you should set up a perpetual Dare calendar on the blog so women can click into whatever day they are on whenever they want – that would be a great resource!

Hi Lorri! Yes, that is the plan, there will be a Dare tab, and these blogs by Day, will be on there, they can click on any day that they are doing, comment, etc, and I will be checking the comments, etc….

Today’s truth verses are Philippians 4:4-8, 11-13, 19. My condensed version is:
Rejoice…The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything…Finally, brothers, whatever is true…think about such things. I have learned to be contented whatever the circumstances…I can do everything through Him Who gives me strength. And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Today, we are to think about a person who usually drives us crazy. I’m there with my kids. We need school because they need structure. So do I. But until the 24th, I need to apply Philippians 4:4-8, 11-13, 19. This dare, like the others, calls me to decide where I will put my focus.
So, as my kids complain or pick on each other, I will:
Find something food and act on it
Dwell on their good qualities
Speak positively -or NOT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL
Trust that God will supply me with words and acts
Seek contentment and be glad that my prayers for children were answered
Pray and thank God that He is good all the time.
Look up. Find good. Thank God for His great gifts. Contentment in the Lord. That’s where I want to live.
