I have been gone some of the week, seeing my son play The Troubadour in L.A. This was fun and exciting for me because I grew up in L.A. and have fond memories of seeing people get their start at that club. Along with the show we had a great time with some friends in Malibu. Bob and Linda Currie let Britta and I stay with them in Malibu for a few nights, while Cameron and his lead guitarist, Braydon, stayed with producer Busbee.
The show opened with Jane Carrey…yes that is Jim Carrey’s girl. We hoped he would show up to the Troubador, but no luck. ( I guess he usually goes to all her shows). Anyway, she was such a nice person and has a powerful voice. Check her stuff out. Jane Carrey Band.
And, if you haven’t checked out Cameron’s band…Jaymes Reunion…then do that too. As an artist, my son goes by Cameron Jaymes, which is his first and middle name.
Cameron is a Christian, going into a secular market, on purpose. If you don’t have his new CD, go download on itunes or purchase the CD online. If you want to hear some music, google Jaymes Reunion, and go to their myspace….Their music video of their first single, “fine” will be featured at 14,000 McDonald’s locations…as a new break out band. You can see it on youtube or on their myspace. Please pray for Jaymes Reunion and what God has for them. The pop-culture is in need of happy songs, morally clean songs, songs about life and love that are not dark. If you are in the area, they are playing main stage, Spirit West Coast, the evening of July 1, right before Jeremy Camp.
As we have been walking through Philippians and seeing how Paul tells us to Rejoice and choose faith over our feelings, I am reminded of how many prayers have gone into the rocky journey of Cameron’s development as an artist. There have been highs and lows, and he continued to persevere. Only God knows the future, but for today, Cameron is doing music…it is being recognized as good…and Cameron recognizes every open door as God.
We are all facing “meantime” places. The space inbetween the beginning of a dream and the answer to our prayers. If you are in the meantime today…I encourage you to believe what Paul has been teaching us through Philippians.
- Whatver Happens God is with us
- Whateve Happens God in in control
- Whatever Happens we can rejoice and believe God is near
- Whatever Happens we do not have to worry
- Whatever Happens, God will supply our need.
I like the lyrics of “fine”…” I’m picking up the pieces just to find, I’m doing just fine”
And, because of Christ, we can look at the pieces and agree with scripture…that we are doing just fine, because God has all the pieces of our life story.
Trusting today……that God is with us, in everything and through everything.
Enjoy my L.A. Photos.
