I am going on a little road trip. Leaving hubby and doggies at home, and hopping in the car with Cameron’s girl. Together we are off to L.A. to see Jaymes Reunion acoustic show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. Fun! Also seeing some Bay area friends who are staying in Malibu. Why go all the way to L.A. for one show? First is the obvious…I am a mom. And, add to that the fact that I grew up on the Troubadour in L.A., so to see my son perform there is exciting for me. Besides that, I love acoustic shows, love the beach and could use a get away…
So, I am doing the posts in advance….
Here we go!
Philippians 4:4
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again. Rejoice!”
Rejoice means to be joyful. And, Paul is telling them as he concludes his letter to “be joyful always.”
The always would let us know that being joyful, rejoicing, praising God, is not determined by our circumstances. Because if it were, we would not be told to do it always. It is determined by the knowledge that the sovereign God rules and reigns over our individual lives. It is determined by the truth that He is faithful, loving, and compassionate. It is determined by the truth that nothing can separate us from his love, and that no one can snatch us from his hand. It is determined by the truth that he has gone to prepare a place for us and that this world isn’t all there is.
I have found that to rejoice, is a choice I make. I choose to believe God is faithful, and choose to rejoice.
Do I always remember to do this? No. But, I am trying to break the pattern of negative thinking and turn it to positive faith and rejoicing in the God who loves me and takes care of me.
So Rejoice!
Chapter 3 told us it was a safeguard for us to Rejoice…now again he repeats it!
Pay attention to repetition!
Today practice being joyful. Stop every hour on the hour and thank God for something. You will be surprised how your attitude and outlook will change.
living up,
Debbie
