Life is filled with love and loss. At 3:30 this morning my husband and I took our Bubba to the emergency vet. His pain had gotten untolerable, it has been a hard week, his tumor exploding in his little body in just a few days. Life was over quickly once he was given the right drugs to shut down the pain. Before we knew it…over.
I got to thinking about life and love. We take so much for granted. We take people for granted. But, seriously they might not be there tomorrow, and things change…seemingly overnight.
How is your love tank? Are you filled with God’s love? Are you pouring it out to others? Today is the day to make sure it’s filled and make sure you are pouring, because it could be the last time someone can feel your touch, hear your voice of encouragement, or experience your friendship.
I have been crying, am tired, have to keep moving with book deadline and leaving to speak for a retreat…so for now, this is all I have to give. I thought of just posting a picture of Bubbs and calling it a post. You would have understood. But, once I got to the posting page, I thought….what if….this is the last thing I could say….I have nothing profound , but my mother left me with a few words that continue to challenge me and rock my world. Funny when you lose something, all other losses seem to come into view again. So thinking about mom today too, and her last charge to me on her deathbed.
So, here you go…
Live Like It’s Real, Because It is….
- Live Like God’s Love is Real and Give it Out to Others
- Live Like His Word is Truth and Real and line your life up to it
- Live Like Eternity is real and plan your life here accordingly
- Live Like God’s Purpose for you are Real and Live them out fully
Off to get gray roots covered…my age is definitely REAL, and I rejoice in it!

We love Bubba too! My girls will always remember pet sitting him. I’ll always remember the time I nearly killed him with the tea tree oil – but he lived! Livi will remember your dogs as the ones who “always” wore clothes (she was certain of it!)
I know Bubba was a gift from your Mom which made him extra special. I am glad he is not in pain anymore, but sad that you are. We miss him with you.
Love, The Steers (including Bubba’s buddy Ginger)

Hi Debbie!
So sorry to hear of Bubba’s passing. I still remember your story from Waterloo this spring about Bubba hiding under the couch.
Maybe in his memory you could share some of your stories about him here on your blog – and the lessons God showed you through your little buddy. 🙂
Hugs from Canada,
Michelle @ Women Alive
