Renewed Focus Through Truth!

I am currently filming a video shoot for the Design4Living Bible studies. Because of that I am immersed in the wonderful truth of God’s Love. Funny thing is, leading into this I have been going through many stress inducing circumstances, and as I have spent the past few days going BACK to the basic truth of God’s love, care and involvement with me, I have found renewed peace.

Focus is a huge thing, isn’t it? Once again I am convinced that though focus is important, God’s word is THE most important tool that we have for living our life with purpose and spiritual focus. We can come up with good confessions and good faith things to hold on to, but it is God’s Word that breaks down the barriers in our heart and mind, causing true change. In many ways God’s word works in such a spectacular way that it almost seems like magic…I realize it’s not, but rather it is the power of God working through the Holy Spirit in a way that accomplishes a God-Sized mission.

If you have been struggling to attain or regain focus, consider going back to God’s Word. Truth that may seem old hat to you, can change your life when you sit with it and let it have it’s work IN you.

Today’s Truth: Hebrews 4:12

“The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Think Surgery. If I had enough money I could go to any surgeon and ask to be changed, altered, or otherwise improved. But, I could not go to a doctor, even with all the money in the world, and ask that my mind and attitude be changed. The most skilled surgeon could not cut away the hang-ups or pain in my emotional heart, nor make good of the hurt that I have experienced in life.

But, the Divine Physician does all this and more. And, God does this through His living and active word of truth. I think it’s easier to just go to service or revival where I can have a person settle me down….but that temporal touch is not as powerful as God’s Word cutting away at the messy places in my heart and mind.

So here’s the deal…it is going to require something from us. WE have to get in the Word, if the Word is going to have it’s way with us. This can be done by sitting with a passage, a book, a verse….for awhile, maybe all day today. Sit with the truth, think of it often, focus you thinking and attention on that verse, and then watch and see what God does. That truth will begin to bring courage to your heart, mind and attitude. You will start being lighter and the heaviness of  SELF is replaced by the lightness of God’s Spirit.

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; Your love, O LORD, endures forever, do not abandon me, the works of your hands.” Psalm 138:8

Unpacking the Truth:

• God WILL fulfill his purposes for my life. All those things I am stressing over are going to be OK. I don’t need to stress, because God is at work, always in my life to lead me into His plan.
• His Love for me is enduring and is forever…even today! Every ordinary day God’s love is powerful on my behalf.
• He will not abandon me. People can, but God will never leave me.
• I am a work of God’s hand, though I am an ordinary woman, I am a work of His hands! My life has purpose because God planned for my life in His Bigger Picture Plan.

“His divine power has given me everything I need for life and godliness through my knowledge of him who called me by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them I may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.” 2 Peter 1:3-4

Today’s Prayer

Father today I am reminded that though I am an ordinary woman you have given me your divine power and through you I have everything I need for today. I am also encouraged in truth that you fulfill your purpose for me! I have no need to fear, as I trust you, you work out my life to follow in your path and plan. Today enable me to stay focused on truth.
