Have you ever watched a dog chasing it’s tail? I have just been sitting in dazed amusement watching my little Lucy chase her tail for the past 10 minutes. I finally got her to stop because I thought she would pass out! Oh, do dogs pass out? Not sure. But, if I was going in circles that long I know that I would collapse!
Yet, on many levels, we are sometimes like a dog chasing its tail, aren’t we? Round and round we go, circling the same old things, obsessing over the same old problems, dizzying ourselves with ourselves!
I believe that God has something more for us than obsessive circling. And, that something more is the promise to change us from within. This change not only affects our actions, but it affects the outcome. This change not only puts a different face on our situational dramas, but it puts a different face on how we live. We become BOLD, COURAGEOUS, and filled with a power greater than we possess within ourselves….WHEN….we embrace the promise of the New Covenant, the Promise of Jesus Christ to bring life change into a believer’s “real life.”
Today’s Truth: 2 Corinthians 37, 12,17
“Now the minsitry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that hte Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of it’s glory, fading though it was, will not the mininstry of the Spirit be even more glorious?
Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face…But, whenever anyone truns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is Spirit, anad where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Stop the Circling!
Here Paul is telling us that Jesus came to do a glorious work in the lives of anyone who will turn to Him. When we turn to Him, we begin being transformed. What is it in your life today that needs change? What do you find yourself circling about?
For me, there are a few things that come to mind.
As soon as I hit “publish” on this posting, I am going to sit down and one by one commit those things to God. I am going to ask Jesus, by the power of His Spirit, to do a work of transformation in my heart and mind, regarding this sticky areas…so that…I can quit circling.
A dog chasing its tail might be funny, but a woman chasing her tail isn’t!
Today’s Prayer
Lord, I come to you and thank you that you came to do a glorious work of redemption and transformation in the life of anyone who would turn to you. I turn to you today, Jesus. I thank you that I am being changed into your likeness…enable me to stop my spinning, and tail chasing.
