This post is late today due to computer and internet problems…hard stuff. That might not seem like hard stuff compared to your hard stuff, but for today, it wasn’t at the top of my list for my Thursday morning. Shortly after I got things up and running I received word that a friend’s daughter is battling hepatitis and is very sick, and another emailed me about an unsolvable problem in her 28 year marriage. That’s not all…then I found out a friend’s house is foreclosing, and another is filing for bankruptcy. Hard Stuff! It undebatable that life is filled with the hard stuff.
Here are some more facts about finding God in the Hard Stuff: ( some taken from Bob Cull)
- God does not always explain His plan to us, even when we are in it.
- When bad stuff happens, God is still in control.
- It is possible to be exactly where God wants you to be even if you are where you are because of the choices that other people have made…even when they make those choices for the wrong reasons.
- Sometimes God blesses or teaches others at our expense
- Sometimes the best answer to our prayers is “no” or “not now” even when we are trapped or uncomfortable.
Today’s Truth: Short and Sweet
Romans 8: 28-29 ” All things work together for good, for those who love God, and those who are called according to His purpose. For whom he foreknew, he predestined to be conformed into the image of His son.”
Isn’t it funny how a “no” or “not now” is not part of the multiple choice list we give to God? It’s more like, ” Lord, here are the 5 ways you can help me out of this….” But, God is bringing us to a place of surrender. Like giving him a blank piece of paper with our name signed at the bottom. Corrie ten Boom says, “let him fill in his own multiple choice answers, and one of them is probably…None of the Above.
But, here we are in the mess and we scream out ” God, I just can’t take it any longer! Not one more day Lord, no kidding! ” We can. We just don’t want to.
If you are like me you might throw a fit, sort of like a baby pounding on it’s momma’s chest…I’m not going to bed! But at the same time we are thinking…But God I want your will. And, sometimes His will is that the Hard Stuff, whatever it is, IS NOT OVER YET!
Here’s truth:
- God will be with us no matter what
- Doing the right thing doesn’t mean a smooth life even when the plan is ultimately good.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, I get exhausted demanding my own way and my own rights. I come in surrender to you now. I want to sign that blank piece of paper over to you……signing it….Sincerely Yours, Debbie. make me all that you had in mind for me to be in this life here on earth.
