Everywhere I turn there is a sad story of loss. People are losing their jobs, their homes, their marriages and their health. The reasons for loss differ but loss is hitting hard in America. Just yesterday between church services I heard seven stories of pending job loss. My mind raced with concern for the people involved. How would they make it? What would they do? Would they have the strength to survive in such hard times?
And, though I see loss all around, I also see God’s promise of provision all around Scripture. Time and time again God gave people strength for the journey and provision for their need. It makes me wonder how we are to live while we wait for God’s provisions? How ARE we to live in the meantime?
Today’s Truth: Ephesians 3:20, Phil 4: 19, Hebrews 13:6
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power…”
“And my God will meet your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
“Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Our faith doesn’t change the fact of job loss, health loss or marital dissolution. Life is filled with conditions that we often have no control of. What we do get to control is what we are going to believe in the middle of conditions and situations that are painful, stressful and hard to swallow.
The Bible is filled with people like us who learned how to put their faith in God. Novel idea…faith in God. We say we have faith in God until we do not have any of our own resources to fall back on. It is then that we realize that our faith might really have been in our securities. I am not saying that we don’t love Jesus, I am just asking a question….Do we really trust Jesus to be all that we need? Do we trust Him to be a provision for hearts, minds and bank accounts that are running on empty?
Today sit with the verses above. Pray throughout the day, breath prayers of thanksgiving. Thanking God that…
- He is able to do more than you can imagine
- He will meet your needs according to His riches
- He is your helper and will never leave or forsake you
It is all about WHO HE IS!
Today’s Prayer
Lord, I thank you for who YOU ARE. Today help me to give my heart over to the truth of WHO YOU ARE. Let the truth of YOU being with me, be my comfort, my hope, my strength, and my confidence. I believe, in your time, you will provide all that I need according to YOUR RICHES. And, you own everything, rule everything and are over all. Praise You!
