Oswald Chambers, “When we are born again the Holy Spirit begins to work his new life in us”
What IF it seems crazy to follow Biblical Truth?
Today’s Truth:
2 Peter 3:3-4, 17-18 NIrV
“First off here is what you must understand. In the last days people will make fun of the truth. They will laugh at it. They will follow their own evil longings.”
“So be on your guard. Then you won’t be led down the wrong path by the mistakes of people who don’t obey the law. You won’t fall from your safe position. Grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Get to know him better.”
It is counter-cultural to follow the Truth in God’s Word, or to even think it is the Truth. I personally call this WILD living! It is WILD to follow what others think is funny or ridiculous. But that is how the saints of old lived. They were counter-cultural, because they did not follow the trends, but instead followed hard after God. Was is easy? No, we see evidence that they faced trials and hardships. But, everyone in life on planet earth faces such things. So, the people of God will also face them. The difference is, when we face hardships, we are shaped and changed by them, by the Spirit of the Living God.
How relevant to see here in the Bible that it says that in the last days people will make fun of the Truth. They do, don’t they? The problem is, we are affected by the culture we live in and can then begin to minimize Truth ourselves. We must guard ourselves from minimizing the truth in our own lives. We can not control what anyone else does or thinks, but we must guard our hearts and minds from falling prey to the culture, desiring relevancy with that culture, more than we desire to stand in intimacy with God.
“Be on your guard.…so you won’t fall from your safe position”
Position: The proper place for something. Our position is living for, in and through Christ. Our position is:
- Alive in Christ
- Child of God
- Ambassador of Christ
- Royal Priesthood
- Holy People
- His Personal Treasure
- Saint ( sinner saved by grace, now identified as a saint)
Guard: To watch over, keep in check, prevent escape
We must be on our gaurd. Being alert to anything that undermines faith of our position in Christ, that tears us apart, and carries us away from following after God. Sometimes it’s just a very little thing that carries us away from truth. But we must be sensitive to those little things that get in and start shaping our minds and thoughts in a way that is subtly opposite of what is outlined in God’s Word as the Truth.
Todays Prayer
Jesus, thank you for the work on the Cross, the death that provided this new position, this new life in you. The death that provided my eternal life. I take it for granted, living my own life by my own ways. Forgive me Lord. Today I am recognizing the truth that says in the world I live in, people don’t “get” the truth. Often Lord, to be honest, I have trouble getting it too. But,I want to stay true to you and to Truth. Help show me how to be on guard and how to stand firm in my position in YOU.
