Today is Valentine’s Day.
We all want to receive and can end up disappointed.
- What if…we gave today?
- What if…our focus was others?
- What if…this focus on others was actually fulfilling?
- What is…this focus on others is really what love is about?
Today’s Question:
What is I didn’t expect anything on Valentines Day, but instead gave everything?
Today’s Truth: 1 John 4:7, 1 Corinthians 13:5, Luke 6:38
“Dear friends let us love one another, for love comes from God.”
“Love is not self-seeking.”
“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Processing Truth:
- Why does love have to be about “me?”
- Why can’t I just give with no strings?
- What will happen if I give that way?
Application:
Today, look for ways to give love. Think of others. Ask God to make you a vessel of giving love, and ask his love that is NOT self-seeking to fill you and give you eyes for loving others His way. Cut the strings to love.
Try it just today.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, you are my valentine, and out of that love that you have lavished on me, I want to love others…my earth valentines. Help me to think more of others than myself today, and cause me to think of people that need a touch of care, tenderness and love.

Thank you for this fresh perspective. I like to think of Valentine’s day as another day we can immerse ourselves in God’s love and tell other’s how much God loves them. So many people feel sad if they are not in a loving relationship because they feel left out. But if we can focus on “God is Love”, then nobody is left out.
